Hi,
Ben-Adam is literally translate into the son of Adam (not the son of man), where Ben (בן) = Son and Adam (אדם) is the name of the first man in the old testament and the origin of his name is earth (in Hebrew: Adama אדמה) since god made him from the earth.
The hebrew version does not mean a Perfect man and even in the biblical view Adam was not perfect (he could not distinguish right from wrong until committing the sin of eating the fruit of the garden).
Regarding Ben-Hur it is a story written in the US and that name translate to Son of Hur (there is no meaning to Hur in hebrew to my knowledge).
