Hi! I haven't heard that comparison before, it is more common for people to compare the sound with Italian. It is very different from French. Try looking up online some songs on YouTube. I'll put the name of some so you can look it up, I do not know your personal preference of music, so it is just with the purpose of you hearing how it sounds like.
