Can you help me translating this one line from a song I found on YouTube? Satisfied - Hamilton - Josh Castille - Video in Text

I love watching ASL songs on YouTube, and it is so good in helping me learn words. This is probably the best video I have ever watched for ASL. This guy Josh Castille was in Deaf West's production of Spring Awakening. I came across this one line that is fascinating to me, that I can't figure out, and would love your help. [https://youtu.be/lFSApZ__V18?t=268 ] It's around 4:30. I have figured out what he's signing when the song says "I'm the oldest, and the wittiest." But I'm really interested in the line "and the gossip in New York city is insidious." The motions he's doing looks so similar to a sleight of hand magic trick, which is what sparked my interest. Mesmerizing. Does anyone mind translating what he's saying for that line, "and the gossip in New York City is insidious." Any help would be much appreciated.
