In America US soil, ASL America Sign Language is most common used. In Canada, they have different sign language... In Mexico, there are over 30 different sign languages there due of many different provinces. In Africa, there are over 40 different sign languages there due of providences too. In Europe, all countries have their own sign languages... In Asia, all countries Korea, Japan, China etc all have their own sign languages.

Hope this help you see bigger pictures the variation of sign languages in the world. The most common would be ASL is greatly exposure to 3rd world countries do not have their languages recognized and in the 90's there were lot of ASL Missionaries would go to poorest countries and help established education there but with ASL used. But in last ten years, deaf people in America became more aware about other countries's discrimination against their own sign language. The missionaries now would fight to government to save their language rather than teaching them ASL.

American Sign Language is the most widely used in the US, most of Canada and Puerto Rico. Because of the dominance of the US in the world in general there are many more users of ASL worldwide who know ASL as a second sign language.
