Anthropology is the study of humans over time. This means that they study our history and culture, and that includes human religions: what we have worshipped in the past, why different deities came into play, hierarchy, how faiths have changed over time (like, how one deity's portfolio or the worshippers' viewpoints of the gods and their standings have altered), and the introduction of new faiths to the culture and how such has changed said culture or how the faith itself changed when faced with this new culture.
