The area of a rectangle is 270 square inches. Determine both dimensions if the length is 6 inches less than four times the width.

A = lw = 270
l = 4w - 6
Substitute:
270 = (4w - 6)(w)
270 = 4w^2 - 6w
0 = 4w^2 - 6w - 270
0 = 2w^2 - 3w - 135
w = 12.4 (ignore negative root)
l = 43.6
