x=3 1/3 hours

6+ 3 1/3=9 1/3=9:20 am on a clock that keeps correct time

in 3 hours Bobs watch loses 6 minutes and Adams watch gains 3 minutes for a total of 9 minutes apart

in 20 minutes (1/3 hour) Bobs watch loses 2/3 of a minute and Adams watch gains 1/3 of a minute

Bobs watch is now 6 2/3 minutes slow and Adams watch is now 3 1/3 minutes fast for a difference of 10 minutes
