Question

Stacey owns a lot that has 180 feet of front footage and contains 36,000 square feet. She purchases two identically-sized lots adjacent to each side of his lot. These side lots are each 200 feet deep and contain 19,000 square feet. What is the total front footage of all three lots?

Each length, or frontage, of the 2 new identical lots can be found by dividing the square footage of each lot, assuming each lot is 19,000 square feet, by 200 feet:

                                                       frontage (of 1 lot)=19,000/200=95 feet

Therefore, the total frontage would be 180 feet (original frontage) + 95 feet (1 new lot frontage) + 95 feet (other new lot frontage): 180 + 95 + 95 = 370 feet.
