Draw the coordinate plane. Mark four dots: two on the x-axis "-2" {coordinate of this dot will be (-2,0)} and "2" {coordinate of this dot will be (2,0)}, and two dots on the y-axis "-2" {coordinate of this dot will be (0,-2)} and "2" {coordinate of this dot will be (0,2)}. Connect them. You will see the square standing on one of its vertex. Coordinates of all dots on sides of this square satisfy the given equation.

it's gonna be 4 different linear equations:
x>0, y>0: y+x=2, y=2-x
x>0, y<0: -y+x=2, y=x-2
x<0, y>0: y-x=2, y=x+2
x<0, y<0: -y-x=2, y=2-x
