This one is a lot like the other problem I answered, so read and understand that one first, then come back here and answer these questions. I know you can do it!!!!
The question asked is What is the number? What does that tell you?
Now you need to change the words into numbers:
In numbers, how do you write each of these:
6 times a number
equals
The second half of the problem can be tricky if you don't take time to understand what is really being asked. If something is less than something else, you're probably gonna need subtraction.
Is the problem saying start with 24 and subtract 9 times the number OR is the problem saying start with 9 times the number and subtract 24? (If you're not sure, try this: The amount of money your friend has = 3 dollars less than 12 dollars. How much money does your friend have? How would you answer this? Would you use the problem 3-12 or 12-3? Now try this: The number of dogs you own = 2 less than 5. How many dogs do you own? How would you answer this? Would you use the problem 2-5 or 5-2? Do you see a pattern? Use the pattern to correctly write the problem.)
Now that the problem is written, solve for x.
Check your answer.
LET ME KNOW HOW YOU DID!!!!!!!
