There are laws and regulations in place that must be complied with.  The laws and regulations have their basis in safety, environmental protection, and other areas that in turn have an ethical basis.  Failure to comply is a violation of law, which results in penalties and maybe even prosecutions.  These definitely impact the long run success of a company.  The company is not likely to succeed in the long run if it is continually paying big fines for violations and its officers are continually being prosecuted for violations.  I would say the statement is FALSE.
