I cant figure out how to get the estimate water content in 16 inches

 1 inch water            x inches water

 

Cross multiply

 

2x = 16

 

Divide both sides by 2

 

x = 8

 

So the answer is 8 inches of water is equivalent to 16 inches of wet, heavy snow.

rain to snow = 1:2

 

1:2 = x:16

1/2 = x/16

x = 8

 

There would be an equivalency of 8 inches of rain given
