Hello. I can help you with the steps to solve the problem. He has $20 total to spend. First, deduct the price of the soda. Then divide that answer by $1. 25 (the price of each bag of chips). The whole number you get before the decimal is the number of bags he can get. For example, if he has $12.20 after subtracting the price of the soda (I'm making up a number here), dividing that by $1.25 is 9.76. So in my example he could buy 9 bags of chips. Ignore the numbers after the decimal as you can't buy partial bags of chips.
