The equation is:
-3 (m-2n) = 5m
First step is to distribute the -3 inside the parenthases:
-3m - (-3)2n = 5m
^^^^
the two negative signs will cancel, to make this term be 3*2n = 6n
So the equation becomes:
-3m + 6n = 5m
Bring the -3m over to the other side:
6n = 5m + 3m = 8m
Divide both sides by 2:
6/2*n = 8/2*m
And the simplified equation becomes:
3n = 4m
