Math has always been my specialty. I completed two years of college engineering math (Calculus, differential equations and multivariable calculus) at UC Santa Barbara while I was still in high school, earning a straight A average and a place on the Dean's honors list before I was even a full time student. In 4 years I earned bachelors degrees in Electrical Engineering and Physics. Five years later I completed my doctorate in Electrical Engineering at UC Berkeley with an emphasis in electromagnetics and radio astronomy. I have over 20 years of industry experience. The last 12 years I have been a consultant through my own small company, Anacapa North, and specialize in radar propagation simulation and radar detection and discrimination algorithms.
I have two sons. One is at Berkeley doing graduate work in chemistry . The other is starting at San Jose state in biology and computer science. I have always enjoyed helping students. When I was in high school I was a tutor through our honor society. In college I was always helping my friends. In graduate school I was a teaching assistant for one quarter, and would always hold review sessions for the qualifying exams and help at office hours even though I was not the official teaching assistant. Since my oldest started elementary school, I have been a regular in the classroom as my job permitted, both helping the class as a whole and tutoring individual kids who needed help. I have tutored my own kid for the SAT and SATII. I have helped them study for many AP exams, including Calculus BC and physics. I really enjoyed this time, and miss it now that they are out of the K-12 school system. My consulting business is part-time and gives me a flexible schedule so I am fairly available for tutoring. I look forward to tutoring your child in math and science. Math has always been my specialty. Svetlana has been a great influence on my daughter. Not only is she incredibly knowledgeable and patient, but she was able to help build my daughter's confidence and help her get through integrals. My only regret is that I wish we had found Svetlana earlier in the QTR.
Svetlana is patient and systematic and helped my daughter greatly to improve and get confidence with her Algebra 2 skills. She is very responsive to coordinate and reliable.
My son, a university freshman, needed help with calculus. His first meeting went very well and looks forward to more sessions over the holiday break. He was very impressed with Lana's assistance and methodology.
Svetlana is timely and patient and calm. My daughter loves being taught by a woman in AB Calculus. We highly recommend her!
Svetlana helped my daughter review and prepare for her last trig tests for the year and then prepare for her final. My daughter was more prepared for her tests than she had been without Svetlana's help and succeeded in improving her understanding and grade.
Svetlana is very patient and keeps her focus on teaching Math in a way that is easy for students to understand. She is very punctual and knowledgeable!!
Lana has been very helpful with reviewing with my daughter's algebra this year. Her level of knowledge is amazing and has helped improve her grade.
The way she describes derivatives and word problems gets me to understand what the word problem is saying. She is an amazing tutor.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I completed 2 years of college engineering math at UC Santa Barbara while still in high school. I have two sons that I have helped extensively with math as well as volunteered in their classroom.
I began Calculus at UC Santa Barbara when I was 15 years old. Finished two years of college math with a 4.0 average before I graduated from high school.
I have a doctorate in electrical engineering and use Calculus on a regular basis.
I took calculus and differential equations at UC Santa Barbara when I was 15 and have been using them ever since. I have a doctorate in electrical engineering that I received from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1992. My specialization was electromagnetics. My Masters thesis involved the numerical solution of Maxwell's equations.

I studied Fortran as part of my curriculum for a bachelors in Electrical Engineering at UC Santa Barbara in 1983. Since them I have written numerous simulations and radar data processing programs in Fortran for my consulting business.
Math has always been my specialty. I took two years of calculus at UC Santa Barbara while still in high school. I obtained a doctorate in engineering and now have a small consulting company where I math extensively on a daily basis.
