Treat 'a' as if it were a number. How would you deal with it that way?
5.30 * C + 8..80 * (some number) = 1050.70
We would subtract the product of 8.80 * a, right? So do that...
We end up with
5.30 * C = 1050.70 - 8.80 * a
Now we are almost finished. If we want to solve for C (a.k.a. isolate C), we need to divide both sides by 5.30. Be sure to put some parenthesis around the right side before you divide
C = (1050.70 - 8.80 *a)/ 5.30
