Healthcare policy

Should healthcare employers provide an opportunity for their employees to conscientiously object to performing certain procedures? If employer has a clear policy that states that it will provide certain services and notifies the employee at time of hire of this policy, can an employee later object to performing said procedure without employment related repercussions?
