At the University of Washington, I earned a BA in Linguistics, a BA in Asian Languages and Cultures, and a BS in Speech and Hearing Sciences, along with minors in Japanese and International Studies. I also studied abroad in Japan as part of an honors leadership program.

I specialize in supporting writers with academic essays, personal statements, and application materials. At the University of Washington’s Odegaard Writing and Research Center, I worked with students from over 50 disciplines and helped them strengthen their writing through thoughtful, one-on-one support. My tutoring approach is non-directive, question-based, and growth-focused—helping writers build confidence and independence while preserving their unique voice.

I also have experience providing asynchronous written feedback through the Western eTutoring Consortium. This method is especially effective for writers in the revision or polishing stage, or for students needing flexibility or fast turnaround. Even at earlier stages, I can offer broad guidance and ask key questions to help move your writing forward—based on your goals and ideas.

Asynchronous tutoring is my primary format, and often works best for writers with busy schedules or tight deadlines. That said, if you’d like a brief live check-in before or after I review your writing, I’m happy to schedule one when possible.

What to Expect: I typically spend up to 1 hour per double-spaced page (12pt font, standard margins). You'll never be charged more than that per page—even if I go over on my end. For documents longer than 5 pages, feel free to message me in advance to discuss timeline and approach.

Please feel free to reach out—It would be a joy to help you strengthen your writing!

I bring a lifetime of experience to ESL support — from growing up in a bilingual home to living on an ESL campus and tutoring international students at the University of Washington. I’ve lived in Japan, speak Japanese, and understand firsthand the challenges and rewards of learning a new language. I specialize in asynchronous feedback for writing assignments, personal statements, and resumes, with a focus on clarity, grammar, and confidence-building. I'm also available for occasional live sessions depending on your needs and my schedule.

I worked at the University of Washington’s Odegaard Writing and Research Center, where I supported a diverse range of writers across disciplines and writing styles—coursework, personal statements, applications, dissertations, and resumes. Through asynchronous tutoring, I provide detailed, encouraging feedback to help writers grow in confidence and skill. My goal is to support long-term development while preserving each writer’s unique voice. Even without meeting live, I aim to make the process collaborative, clear, and empowering.

Proofreading

I offer professional proofreading for essays, resumes, applications, and other academic or business writing. With a background in linguistics and tutoring English and ESL learners, I bring a trained eye for clarity, grammar, and tone. I specialize in asynchronous proofreading with personalized comments that go beyond surface-level edits — I aim to help you understand what’s working and what can improve. Whether you're polishing a final draft or need help with tricky grammar, I’ll help make your writing clean, professional, and powerful.
