A Few Tutor Qualifications

I have played soccer for 18 years and have 2 years of coaching experience at the elementary level.
Adam P.
I have over 15 years of tutoring experience in Arts and over 5 years as a teacher in Arts & Crafts to students of various ages. I'm also an artist and crafter. I teach drawing using different media: pencil, pen, acrylic, watercolor, etc.
ShengHsi Kimberly L.
I have been an avid chess player since I was 6 years old. I am familiar not only with basic rules and piece capabilities, but also more advanced strategies, including anticipating how the board will develop several moves ahead. Perhaps most importantly, I understand how the game can both improve cognitive abilities and also be, quite simply, fun!
Daniel S.
I have been sewing since I was a small child, approximately 40 years. I have made all types of simple and complex projects from tailored suits, lots of my own clothing, to simple projects that I used to teach my own daughter to sew. I come from a long line of "sewers" as my grandmother taught me. My mom, her sister, my cousin and I are (were) all serious sewers. I am very patient with young children. I believe that learning to sew is an excellent life skill. I am a certified secondary ed teacher and have subbed for many years, preschool through high school, which taught me to work with all levels of children. Last school year I went into the sewing lab in my free period and helped the girls and the teacher, just because I enjoyed it.

For over 30 years, I've had the opportunity to assist children through adults in improving their reading and writing skills. Beginning when I was in college I worked with a local community college assisting students with their basic skills of reading, writing and math. Since these skills are foundational for education, I believe it is important for all students to develop expertise in these subjects.
David F.
I live in East Mesa and am willing to travel within 30-40 miles to do tutoring. I have been a special education teacher for 3-4 years, 2 of those years here in the Valley. I have 2 children and 3 grandchildren, all of whom live back in the Chicagoland area. I love working with children of all ages and this is my passion. Particularly, I like to teach English, writing, and literature. I also have taught general math, pre-algebra, general sciences, biology, civics and geography. I love learning and consider myself a life-long learner as well as a teacher. I am looking forward to working with WyzAnt and working with children of all ages. Sincerely, Ms. Sandra D.

Chemistry has so many different rules, so much math, and often moves so fast that students who get behind for any reason find it very hard to recover from alone. My focus when helping students with chemistry is on the way to approach the problems so that the rules don't get overwhelming. Just having someone else to guide you through the steps a few times will make it so the next times on your own come easier. One of the most common things I show students is how math often becomes easier when applied to real problems. Most students assume it becomes more difficult, but when problems include units getting the right answer is easier with the right mindset.

I have more than 4 years' solid tutoring experience, including help with writing persuasive and organized communications for all grade levels. I can help greatly improve English skills (reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary). I enjoy finding out how each person I tutor learns best. I have been writing and editing all kinds of material -- including abstracts, essays of all types, and extensively researched articles -- for publication for more than 25 years. It makes me feel good to share what I have learned and so make the process much easier for others.
Charlotte G.
I've been teaching earth science and tutoring for 18 years. I have had great success with my students for the earth science Regents over the years.
Laurie C.
I have been tutoring students from Mission San Jose, Washington, Irvington, and most other high schools in Fremont and the greater East Bay area in all levels of math for over three years. Through one-on-one lessons and routine practice, my students have achieved outstanding results. References are available by request.

Other Requests From Students Like You

I need a English tutor to improve my English conversational skill. I studied English for quite a long time (majored in English back in college), so have no big problem communicating in daily life, but still I feel the need to practice it.
