I've spent over 20 years helping students to pull their grades up and get back on track. I can help you catch up before a test through my straight-forward and effective methods. I've done it for so many students. I give quick and clear step by step explanations.

My results - my students who thought about giving up stuck with it and brought their grades back up!

And how do I know the methods work? Because they worked for me. I come from a place of being there and so I'm able to relate to...

And how do I know the methods work? Because they worked for me. I come from a place of being there and so I'm able to relate to those students who have this need. I don't have a degree in Math because there was not struggle. I have a degree in math because I overcame that struggle.

I have a BA in mathematics from UC Berkeley, a Masters in Education and over 20 years of experience.
I'm certified in Mathematics in at the middle school and high school levels (California, Florida).
I can help you understand how the math works and learn how to solve questions that you never thought possible.

My students and I have great relationships. I've had some students stay with me for years because they love learning from me (and getting ahead).

Also, for students in need of test prep, here are some of my results: Exeter admittance, medical school double major acceptance, graduate school acceptances, valedictorian of the middle school, perfect ACT.

If you are interested, message me for a free consultation call. Let me get to know exactly what you need. I want to know how I can best help you out! I can't wait to speak with you.

Best regards,
Ingrid

Elementary Math

Elementary math is full of fun and games. We participate in activities that will help the student learn math, but have fun at the same time. There are many real life examples that involve math and the student can develop a hands on approach to mathematics that will lay their foundation for the later years. We also work through challenge questions to teach students perseverance and problem solving strategies. These methods are "Common Core" style so the students will be well prepared. All students are encouraged to participate in math competitions that are fun and rewarding.

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I have a degree in mathematics and teaching mathematics. I've been teaching and tutoring math for over 10 years. In particular I have taught Algebra 1 for six years. Through my tutoring sessions I work with students to gain confidence, expertise, and long term math skills.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is the most topic-packed course in High School. To make sense of it we improve our understanding in Algebra 1, bring in Geometry and Trigonometry concepts, and build off of parent functions. By getting the student caught up previewing the material before class time, I am able to help students make great gains so that students are back on track.
Geometry,

Geometry

I have taught Geometry for three years in the schools. I worked with many students one on one to tutor them in Geometry concepts. Some of the areas I focus on include: helping students to better understand the way that Algebra ties into Geometry, the visual concepts of Geometry and the definitions. My methods include helping students by asking them questions, showing them examples, outlining notes, providing additional practice problems, and encouraging them to do their best.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

I have prepared students for the necessary concepts in Algebra for many years. When they need extra support, I bridge the gap by reteaching PreAlgebra concepts, providing supplemental materials and making sure that they feel confident that they can proceed to the next level.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

I have been helping students improve in Pre-Calculus at both the college and high school level, regular and honors. We look at shortcuts, review foundational algebra, draw memory aids, and practice for success. There are many ways to help make sense of the confusion and set up success in future math courses, like Calculus.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I have been trained in teaching SAT math with a national test prep company. I prepare students through test strategies and also reteach math principles.

Math

ACT Math,

ACT Math

For the ACT Math, there are 60 questions in 60 minutes. That's fast. First off we work on building up the student's knowledge bank. We find out what the student is weak in and I provide examples and practice problems for those areas. Secondly, we work on test strategies - in other words, how to beat the test like it is a game. Student work on time management, guessing and problem solving strategies, and simple things like what to take with you and what to eat before a test.

Trigonometry

Learning Trigonometry is about finding a system that works and executing it. There is a method to the madness. We work on using a simple method to solve problems and bridge the gap back to that method even when problems change. That way there is less to memorize and more success!

Great Math Instructor

Ingrid has been a great tutor for my daughter. She is patient and has been able to help her throughout the year. She was very understanding and flexible with her scheduling and easy to communicate with.

consistently great

Ingrid continues to be a great tutor. She works with my daughter to teach her not just math but study skills and how to pick up on clues in the questions that may not be very clear.

Very Personable and Helpful

Ingrid has been working with my 9th grade daughter with Algebra I. My daughter is really smart, but she has been intimidated by math. As she continues working with Ingrid, her teacher has reported that her confidence is increasing. In addition, her grade in Algebra is improving. She really likes working with Ingrid. While this was not necessarily a positive for my daughter, I really liked that Ingrid gave her some additional practice items to address problem areas. The support that Ingrid provides is invaluable to us. Due to the pandemic, my daughter only sees her teachers in-person twice a week.

as always

Ingrid really cares. She will go the extra mile to make sure my daughter understands and open for conversations. Each session my daughter feels a bit more confident and ends with a smile.

another great lesson

The best thing after tutoring is when my kid comes out if it with a smile on her face. That’s what comes after a session with Ingrid. All smiles. Thank you.

fantastic teacher.

I neglected to write a review for the first session because I just forgot. It is not a reflection on Ingrid at all. She is.m a fantastic tutor. Takes the time the get to know who she will be meeting with and what the issues are and is extremely patient. Love the videos being available so I can see exactly what she is doing. My daughter has connected with her and feels more confident each time.

Knowledgeable and responsible

Ingrid is very responsible teacher. Before the first lesson, she called me to get information about my daughter and my expectation. After each lesson, she assigns homework for my daughter to do to make sure she can master the concepts she teaches. She always answers my calls. After the first lesson, she found what the issues with my daughter and made the plan on how to help her to improve her grade. She goes beyond to let my daughter practice in IXL using her account. One day after three lessons with her, my daughter came home and told me happily that she did well in her pre-calculus test. I am very pleased with Ingrid's help. With her help, my daughter is confident on her math again. Thank you, Ingrid!

Knowledgeable, helpful and patient tutor

My son really enjoys taking Algebra II class with Ingrid. He mentions that she is a very professional, patient, encouraging and helpful tutor. Ingrid can guide him to think deeply about each step of doing math, also can teach me how to study and prepare the test in systematic way. Because of the skill, my son has made a huge progress in his grade in Algebra II. He is eager to have ongoing classes with Ingrid.

Very Effective Math Tutor

My daughter is a High school freshmen was struggling with Algebra I. Soon after Ingrid started tutoring her grades moved higher and in fact scored 100 in a test is the first time in the entire school year. Ingrid's patience, knowledge and effective interaction with the student will deliver results. I am planning to continue Ingrid's tutoring for Algebra II.
