I earned my Bachelor of Arts in History Education from Old Dominion University in 2017. Since then, I have taught both honors and standard history courses for two years and am currently in my third year teaching IB History SL. I work with 11th- and 12th-grade students in a classroom setting, preparing them for the IB exams in May of their senior year. My school has an open admissions policy, so I have extensive experience supporting a wide range of learners, from high-achieving students to those who need additional skill-building and confidence to succeed in the IB program.
In my IB History courses, I focus on building students’ content knowledge and analytical skills for Paper 1, Paper 2, and the Internal Assessment (IA). Over the two-year program, I guide students in developing their writing skills, historiographical understanding, and source evaluation abilities. I am an expert in Topic 10: Authoritarian States and Topic 12: The Cold War for Paper 2, but I am also well equipped to support students with any topics their specific programs cover. I also provide structured guidance on the IA, which is a significant component of the overall IB History grade.
My teaching methods emphasize the reading and interpretation of primary sources, content retention through thematic connections, and mastery of IB writing skills. I help students understand the structure and expectations of the IB History curriculum, build strong historical arguments, and practice effectively for all assessments. My goal is to equip students with both the knowledge and confidence needed to excel in IB History.
