About Evelyn

Bio

I am a Financial Information Systems Specialist at Tidewater Community College in Norfolk, VA. I have over 15 years professional experience that includes a substantial background in accounts payable, accounts receivable, taxation, payroll and reconciliation, inventory and human resources. I have been teaching accounting, business writing, college math and management for over 14 years. I tutor both, face-to-face & online.

I am a Financial Information Systems Specialist at Tidewater Community College in Norfolk, VA. I have over 15 years professional experience that includes a substantial background in accounts payable, accounts receivable, taxation, payroll and reconciliation, inventory and human resources. I have been teaching accounting, business writing, college math and management for over 14 years. I tutor both, face-to-face & online.

In addition, I have an undergraduate degree in Business Management from Hampton University and a Master’s degree in Business Management with a concentration in Human Resource Management from Strayer University. Two years after receiving my graduate degree, I returned to school to get the last piece of my education so I received a Graduate Certificate in Accounting with a concentration on Controllership.

I am committed to promoting information-sharing and collaboration as well as student interaction/engagement to create a rich, stimulating and diverse learning community which is grounded in real events and theory. Whether lecturing or hands on in the classroom, I believe in engaging in real world discussions that are thought provoking and are constantly challenging you to think outside of the box. It is my belief that we are always learning and by engaging and relating accounting to the real world, we can all learn the advantages of accounting & business communication in our every day lives.

I have used MS Office products in my job and classroom for over the last 15 years of my career. I have over 14 years of teaching & tutoring experience in the following subjects: accounting (including principles, intermediate, cost, managerial and advanced) math (elementary through pre-calculus), business writing & business communication, office administration, business principles & management, AIS & Quickbooks) I work well with students of all ages online as well as face to face. Amazing tutor!

Evelyn tutored me in Intermediate Accounting II. She was very patient and worked with me to find a learning style I responded to. She has very flexible hours so I was able to get tutoring multiple times a week and on short notice.
