My name is Laura, and I am a Mom of two amazing boys, a sixteen year old son, Alex and a seven year old son, Kaleb. I am a graduate of South Plains College, with an Associate of Science degree with a major in pre-pharmacy. I am also a graduate of Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Childhood Development. My name is Laura, and I am a Mom of two amazing boys, a sixteen year old son, Alex and a seven year old son, Kaleb. I am also a graduate of Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Childhood Development. I am a third generation Texas Tech graduate! My grandparents attended Texas Tech and my Dad graduated with a degree from Texas Tech. I am currently working on a Master of Education degree at Concordia University - Portland.

I am an experienced teacher with six years of teaching experience working with children, from infants to adolescents and even college students. I have been a Lead and Assistant Teacher and have taught Art, Foreign Language including French and Spanish, and Pre-Kindergarten. Most of my teaching experience has been with children 3-6 years of age. I three years of tutoring experience with WyzAnt, working with children and adolescents. Most of my experience has been as a Reading tutor working with 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade students.

I have always loved learning! I have always tried to instill a love for learning in my students. If children develop a hunger and desire to learn, they will love education and will continue on this path for knowledge into adulthood!

It is a really great feeling when a student is having difficulty learning something and then the "light bulb" comes on and they finally get it! Some of my most favorite subjects to teach are Reading, French, Art, Math and Science. I have taught French and Spanish to children ages 2-6 and I am a 2nd grade Reading, Language Arts, and Humanities Subject Expert Teacher at Basis San Antonio Medical Center.

  • Rate details: $40 for Elementary, $45 for Middle School, $50 for High School and $55 for College students. A group rate starts at $50 and increases by $15 per additional student.

I have 7 years of teaching experience with children from preschool aged, elementary and college students. I have been tutoring a student in 1st and 2nd grade, in Reading, for almost 2 years. I have also taught English, French and Spanish to preschool aged students, ages 2-6 years old. I have experience working in a Montessori school and incorporate some hands-on Montessori teaching methods with my students, in addition to more traditional methods as well. I also have experience teaching Art, Math and Science to Pre-K and Kindergarten students. I have also tutored 2nd grade students in Math.

I have 5 years of teaching experience in Pre-K and Kindergarten where I taught children aged 3-5 Phonics, Reading and Writing. I have experience with Reading programs and curriculum. I have experience with Montessori education, so I love incorporating hands-on Montessori materials into the learning process, such as puppets and manipulatives. I also use traditional teaching materials such as flash cards and worksheets. I like to incorporate modern technology such as IPads, the computer, and fun learning songs and videos. I am familiar with North Dallas schools and Lubbock ISD, and I have been a substitute in LISD as well. I will not only TEACHERS your child phonics, but they will LOVE PHONICS and LEARNING!

Relatable topics

Laura always teaches using topics that pertain to that week. My sons birthday was approaching, so she had him read passages about birthdays. She also has him collect gems for different things he does well and then trade them in for prizes. He loves it!
