I have spent the past several years teaching and tutoring students in English, literature, and writing, and I bring both professional training and personal passion to my work. I hold advanced graduate hours in English, having completed 180 hours toward my PhD, and I also hold a Master’s degree. This background has given me a wide foundation in American, British, and World literature as well as experience in composition, research, and communication skills. My training has not only deepened my subject knowledge but also sharpened my ability to explain complex ideas clearly and effectively to students of all levels.

In addition to my academic preparation, I have taught and tutored students ranging from middle school through college. I have worked in classroom settings, one-on-one sessions, and small group workshops. My approach emphasizes patience, encouragement, and clarity. I believe that every student learns differently, so I tailor my lessons to individual needs—whether that means breaking down essay structure step by step, practicing reading comprehension strategies, or building confidence through guided discussion. Many of my students have not only improved their grades but also developed a stronger sense of independence in their learning.

My teaching philosophy centers on engagement and empowerment. I encourage students to connect what they are learning to their own interests and goals, whether that is preparing for college, mastering a difficult text, or simply feeling more confident in the classroom. I value creativity, collaboration, and consistency, and I work hard to create an environment where students feel supported and challenged at the same time. My goal is not just to help students complete an assignment but to equip them with lasting skills in reading, writing, and critical thinking that they can carry forward in school and beyond.
