Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT English

I am qualified to prepare students for the ACT because I passed the exam, including the English section. I have taught high school level English and literature.

Aspergers

I have had extensive training in working with kids who have high functioning autism/ Asperger's. Autism

As a Texas certified special educator, I have worked with students who have been identified as autistic; as well as consulted with their parents. I am a parent of an autistic child, so I have professional and personal experience in navigating the autistic spectrum disorder maze. I have had extensive training in working with autistic children in the areas of floor time activities, TEACCH, Montessori methods and the F.A.C.E.S. curriculum. Play is an integral part of getting the autistic child to interact with his or her environment and learn to communicate and I use the aforementioned strategies and resources to help children connect with others.

Patient, knowledgeable and truly cares!

Jael is easy to work with and made my daughter feel at ease on her first lesson. My daughter enjoyed her first lesson so much that she is excited for her next lesson. Jael was able to explain in detail where my daughter could improve and even provided some resources so that we can work on at home. I'm looking forward to future sessions.
