Hello! My name is Jennifer. I have an undergraduate degree in Integrative Biology from Auburn University, a Master’s in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Columbia University, and I currently work as a professional researcher in Cell and Molecular Biology. I have pursued these opportunities because of my passion for biology, and I would love to help you explore and understand this exciting field. Whether you are studying for an AP exam, preparing for a presentation, or wanting to learn more out of pure curiosity, I believe that if we work together we can accomplish your goals.

I have a year and a half of one-on-one tutoring experience in various undergraduate biology courses (listed below), and served as a TA for an undergraduate capstone course. In these positions, I interacted with students who had a variety of goals and academic subject backgrounds, but across the board I was able to help identify priorities, set goals, and create a plan for success that extended beyond the tutoring session. Students I worked with consistently told me that they felt better about the specific material they had questions on, as well as their ability to tackle future challenges.

Courses:
AP Biology - passed with a 5
Introduction to GIS, Statistics for Biology and Health Sciences, Statistical Modeling for Ecology and Evolution, Introduction to Computational Biology (focus on R, Python, and Bash), Ecology, Conservation Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry I and II, Genetics and Lab, Genomics, Molecular Ecology, Evolution and Systematics - all passed with As

Botany

Botany

My Master's thesis focused on plant evolution and communities. I have taken courses on plant pathology, plant responses to climate change, wetland plants, and plant ecophysiology.
Ecology

Ecology

During undergraduate I took numerous ecology, conservation, and environmental science courses, and my Master’s degree was in ecology and evolution, so I’m familiar with the field and the way these classes are typically structured.
Genetics

Genetics

I have tutored Genetics at an undergraduate level, earned an undergraduate degree in Genetics, a Master's degree in Evolutionary Biology, and currently work as a researcher in Molecular Biology. Not only do I have a strong foundation in how Genetics courses are structured from the perspective of both a student and tutor, I also understand the practical applications of the field.

Clarity and knowledge

We went over the basics of genetics and her explainations were very clear and concise! She also helped me understand the concepts clearly and was super patient with all my questions.
