I am a recent graduate of Fordham University and The Ailey School (‘23) with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Dance.

I spent 5 years as a summer camp counselor, gaining extensive experience working with children (ages 6-11). Since then, I have been employed by The Ailey School (and other studios) as a dance substitute instructor/teaching-assistant, developing various teaching/communication skills, and creating lesson plans that both engaged students and imbued them with a sense of structure and discipline.

This past year, I further developed these skills tutoring high-schoolers as an SAT instructor for a program run by the Flushing YMCA (Queens, NY). Teaching both the Reading & Writing (English) and Math portions of the exam, I gained invaluable experience in a more traditional classroom setting, refined my time-management skills, and acquired significant insight into teaching older students.

As someone who grew up in the arts, I know very well that math can be a daunting subject—but I believe that it can be a subject for everyone, not just the smartest kid in class.

In terms of correspondence, please feel free to reach out with additional questions or to schedule a lesson! I will be sure to respond within 1-12 hours.

Ballet

Ballet

I began training in dance (specifically ballet) at the age of three; since then, I have trained in numerous other styles—modern, tap, jazz, hip-hop, West African, and ballroom—but my primary focus was ballet (Russian, Vaganova Style). In high school, I joined my studio's pre-professional program, which required 5 ballet classes per week and two performances each year. After graduating, I auditioned for, and was accepted into, The Alvin Ailey School's BFA program (in conjunction with Fordham University) where I continued and refined my ballet training, (again with 5 classes per week). Since then, I have joined two professional dance companies in the tri-state area (Alison Cook Beatty Dance and Nimbus2, located in NYC and Jersey City, respectively) and have had multiple opportunities to teach ballet to younger students—in Maryland, New Jersey, and New York. Now, I look forward to passing on my training to students interested in pursuing this timeless artform.
Ballroom Dancing

Ballroom Dancing

I began my ballroom dance training at the age of ten, ultimately learning 10 different ballroom dances: Cha-Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, and Jive (each in the "Latin" style), as well as Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, and Quickstep (each in the "Standard" or "Ballroom" style). Since beginning this training, I have performed in multiple showcases in most of the above styles, and competed in many competitions in all of the above styles. In 2017-2019, I competed in the USA Dance National DanceSport Championships, placing 2nd in the Youth Gold Standard Division (2017), 2nd in the Amateur Adult Novice Standard Division (2019), and 1st in the Amateur Adult Championship Cabaret (2019). I have also competed with numerous partners, so I am well-versed in adapting to other individuals' dancing styles. As of now, I am continuing to train with my primary dance partner, taking lessons with Oleksiy Buravenko (Top 154 in Blackpool Dance Festival, United Kingdom, 2012). This training and experience, in conjunction with my teaching/tutoring background, significantly reinforces my ability to teach ballroom dance; I look forward to passing on my training and expertise to students interested in pursuing this culturally rich, competitive, and fascinating artform.

Hebrew

Hebrew

I began studying Hebrew at 5-years-old at a Jewish school in Maryland; this education continued consistently, ultimately through high school. Beginning in middle school, I supplemented my Hebrew classes with instruction from the Rosetta Stone language learning program. This allowed me to excel in my acquisition of the language, and to eventually join the highest class in my grade, from 6th grade onwards, (all classes from elementary school being conducted by fluent, native Hebrew speakers). In 12th grade, my knowledge of the language was put to the test during a class trip to Israel, where I was able to conduct conversations with native speakers, with ease. While I am a little short of fluency, my understanding of the language, combined with my experience teaching/tutoring, makes me an excellent resource for beginning/intermediate Hebrew students. I look forward to imparting this knowledge to those who are interested in learning this fascinating, ancient, and religiously significant language.
Piano

Piano

I began taking piano lessons around the age of 8, once a week. After a few years' hiatus, I resumed my training at the age of 14 with a new instructor—Jennifer Stetson, graduate of Carnegie Mellon. Since taking lessons with her, I have written numerous compositions, ranging from national-anthem-style marches to New-Age Pop. While I am no concert pianist, my foundation in piano technique and music theory, combined with my experience teaching/tutoring, significantly reinforces my ability to teach beginning students the basic concepts of piano. In terms of lessons, I own a keyboard and am willing to conduct lessons from my apartment. I greatly look forward to passing on my knowledge to future generations of pianists.

SAT Math

I received a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Fordham University ('23). Post graduation, I began working for Bell Curves--a tutoring organization based in NYC, and specializing in the SAT-- starting at the end of last year. With this organization, I have had the opportunity to teach a class of high school students in Flushing, Queens, and help them to prepare for both the Math and English portions of the test. With these accomplishments under my belt, I am confident in my ability to help students excel on this exam.
