I am a recent graduate of Fordham University and The Ailey School (‘23) with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Dance.
I spent 5 years as a summer camp counselor, gaining extensive experience working with children (ages 6-11). Since then, I have been employed by The Ailey School (and other studios) as a dance substitute instructor/teaching-assistant, developing various teaching/communication skills, and creating lesson plans that both engaged students and imbued them with a sense of structure and discipline.
This past year, I further developed these skills tutoring high-schoolers as an SAT instructor for a program run by the Flushing YMCA (Queens, NY). Teaching both the Reading & Writing (English) and Math portions of the exam, I gained invaluable experience in a more traditional classroom setting, refined my time-management skills, and acquired significant insight into teaching older students.
As someone who grew up in the arts, I know very well that math can be a daunting subject—but I believe that it can be a subject for everyone, not just the smartest kid in class.
In terms of correspondence, please feel free to reach out with additional questions or to schedule a lesson! I will be sure to respond within 1-12 hours.
