Hello, I'm Carlos! I graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Plant Science and a minor in Biomedical Science. Since high school, I believed the best way to learn a topic was to teach it, and have always had the inclination to pass on knowledge to others. I was always organizing classroom study groups, creating flashcard sets to study for exams, and now that I've been out of school for several years, I still retain my love of teaching. I believe that every student is equipped with the tools to succeed, and all they need is some guidance and encouragement to bring out the best in them.
In college, I acted as a Big Brother mentor under Big Brothers Big Sisters, frequently discussing scientific topics with my chosen mentee. After college, I worked for a year with a DOE-certified vendor to provide science and math instruction to grades 1-10 in public and charter schools. In this role, I organized science experiments and miniature lectures for groups in afterschool programming, and acted as a classroom assistant during Geometry and Algebra classes to provide additional 1-on-1 support for large classes. I also worked a year in a STEM-heavy R&D position in a corporate setting where I frequently had to explain complex research to my colleagues.
I have a listed rate on my profile but I am very much open to negotiation if your circumstances mean that you aren't able to pay as much. I never want to turn down a student due to a lack of resources. I'll always try to respond within the day as well. I'd love to set up a meeting with you to advance your learning journey!
Sincerely,
Carlos
