About me:
I am an empathetic and patient teacher of students of diverse backgrounds and abilities. I hold a NY State teaching certification, a master’s degree in teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education (in partnership with Teach for America) with distinction, and a bachelor’s degree with distinction from Cornell University, Human Ecology / Brooks School of Public Policy. Most recently, I spent two years teaching a bilingual pre-k class, but I am experienced in teaching and one-on-one instruction with all ages (from age 2 to adulthood)! I began tutoring as a high school student at Eleanor Roosevelt and have enjoyed teaching individuals ever since.

Why am I tutoring now?
I am currently looking for a career that uses research and policy analysis to reform the education system and support high-quality instruction for all students, regardless of their background or location.

Skills and approach:
I have strong writing skills, including essays, formal reports, creative writing, and scripts. I also enjoy teaching early math (from pre-k to middle school) and Spanish as a foreign language. As your tutor, I will use an individualized approach tailored to your strengths and interests to keep you engaged and loving learning, rather than hyper-focusing on your areas of need. This is the most up-to-date, research-backed approach to achieve successful learning outcomes for students. Although some strategies may work for some students, there is no one-size-fits-all approach, and I enjoy learning about each student's own way of thinking.
