I've tried getting help from other students and using the school's recitation teacher, but they are not nearly as close to being as helpful as Margaret is. She takes the time to listen to what you are having a problem with, explains concepts well and demonstrates for you where and how these concepts are applied. She is also very down to earth, relate-able, and all with professional mannerisms. The most important part: she really knows her stuff. I recommend her very much to anyone out there who needs help in the sciences.
Margaret spent a very hectic month with me during an accelerated summer chemistry course. My professor was teaching what was supposed to be a basic course, but he was a very serious quantum chemist who gave med-school worthy exams. Margaret put in an unbelievable amount of hours with me for many sessions, all the way into the wee hours of the morning, until I was satisfied that I knew the material inside and out. She was and is an incredibly patient, willing, reliable and knowledgeable teacher.
Margaret was able to clear up all the concepts that my daughter was having trouble with. Highly recommended.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
