I'm Kaylee! I am a fifth grade special education teacher and tutor. I have a Bachelor's degree in English and a Master's Degree in Childhood Education, with a NY State Teaching Certification, Grades 1-5. My experience is primarily with students with ADHD, dyslexia, and autism, and I specialize in the Orton-Gillingham approach to reading and the Singapore math curriculum.

My specialty in reading is with the Orton-Gillingham approach, which is most useful for students with language based learning differences such as dyslexia. The Orton-Gillingham approach is explicit, multi-sensory, and prescriptive, and I have used it to create individualized curriculum with my students that is paced to meet their needs.

I am most familiar with the Singapore math curriculum, which follows the concrete, pictorial, and abstract learning process. This process ensures understanding at a base level of concepts before approaching an abstract math concept, which leads to greater fact fluency and more functional mental math skills.

My work at a special education school is focused on students with ADHD, dyslexia and ASD, and as a result I have the training and background to work with students who need support with executive functioning, organization and planning skills, and controlling impulses and distractions.
