I started tutoring after high school. For five years I was private tutor providing one-on-one and group study in different courses, but later I focused solely on math. My love for teaching comes from a lifelong love of learning and in particular learning math. It is a subject that I have been good at ever since high school. There is such a pleasure I get from being able to help someone gain a greater understanding of this subject. I have been in many situations where help from someone else made all the difference in being able to move forward with projects I've worked on. I was always very grateful for that support and desired to help others as I had been helped. But there is also something else I get out of tutoring. It is a greater understanding of the subject. In order to help someone learn something, you have to stop and think about how you are going to teach that subject to the person you are helping. The analysis that takes strengthens your understanding, which benefits both the person tutored and the tutor. I love the win-win situation that creates for all involved.
My senior year in high school, I maintained a 3.9 grade-point average and was named Salutatorian of my graduating class. In addition to focusing on my own studies, I also worked as a math and science tutor throughout my years in high school. I work with grades from Kindergarten through college.
I am knowledgeable, patient and friendly. My goal is to help students to find a process that sticks with them so that they can recognize different math problems and develop the ability to figure out how to solve them.
