Hello! I'm Kristen, a Summa Cum Laude graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) and a minor in TESOL. I have over 3,500 hours of tutoring experience and have supported students from diverse backgrounds and age groups in a variety of subjects. My specialization is in high school math, including Algebra, but I have extensive experience working with math at all levels from Kindergarten through 12th grade. I have also been a part of teaching internships and have over 300 hours of in-classroom teaching experience, which includes student teaching and creating customized learning plans.

I’m familiar with Singapore Math and have successfully helped homeschooling families implement and navigate this curriculum. Whether you're seeking support for traditional schooling or a more personalized homeschool approach, I’m confident in my ability to adapt to different learning styles and educational needs. Additionally, I tutor reading, writing, and science, offering comprehensive support across a range of subjects for all ages and grades.

My passion for education extends beyond math. I’ve studied French for five years, reaching a B2 proficiency level, and worked as a college French tutor. I’ve also taught English in international settings, including a 135-hour TEFL internship teaching grades 1-6 in China and volunteering at English camps in Poland. These experiences have given me a unique insight into teaching language and other subjects with patience, creativity, and cultural awareness.

I believe in celebrating every success, no matter how small, and strive to create a positive, encouraging learning environment. I’m excited to support students on their academic journey, helping them build confidence and achieve their goals. If you’re interested in lessons or have any questions, feel free to reach out. Algebra 1

I love math, and I love helping others feel confident in it! In high school, I was so passionate about math that I completed five years' worth of math classes in just four years. While math often came easily to me, I also know what it’s like to struggle—when I first encountered Calculus, it felt like an alien language. It took confusion, frustration, and even tears before it finally clicked. That experience shaped me into the tutor I am today: patient, understanding, and encouraging. With over 3,700 hours of tutoring experience, I specialize in helping students build a strong foundation in Algebra 1. Whether you're working on linear equations, solving inequalities, or understanding the basics of functions, I’ll break things down step-by-step and explain them in ways that make sense to you. My goal is to ensure you feel confident and capable of solving problems on your own. I currently tutor multiple students in math and look forward to helping you turn challenges into victories!

Elementary Math

I love math! In fact in high school I wanted to become a high school math teacher. I find it to be so satisfying when you complete a problem correctly and come to the right answer. Mathematics came easy to me and I was able to take 5 years of math classes during the 4 years of high school, but I also understand what it means to struggle. When I got to Calculus it was like an alien langauge to me and it took a lot of confusion, frustration, and even tears before anything started to make sense. Because of this you'll find I am a patient, understanding, and encouraging tutor who is more than happy to sit with you until feel like you can do it on your own!
