Hi there, my name is Emily. I received my BS degree in Neuroscience from Brandeis University, where I was a teaching assistant for several pre-med courses. I received my Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine from George Washington University, with Magna Cum Laude honors. Additionally, I have a certificate in Genomic Data Science from Johns Hopkins University.

I completed a postdoctoral research appointment at the National Institutes of Health. I developed cellular therapies to treat patients with cancer I and searched for novel cancer biomarkers in bioinformatic datasets. My academic expertise includes molecular biology, biomedical sciences, genetics, and immunology. I am currently doing similar work at Merck as a Senior Scientist.

I enjoy sharing my knowledge and passion for science with students of any age! I have tutored elementary and middle school students in various subjects through Big Apple Tutoring for several years in New York City.

I am a published author of several scientific papers in high-impact journals; my writing skills are tuned for science. Let me help you with your writing assignments for school, program applications, or even grants. Together, we can develop your complex content into concise and robust language that will impress your reader. Communicating scientific concepts can be particularly challenging, so let me help you! Alternatively, let's work in the opposite direction to dissect a complicated scientific paper together. We can analyze experimental approaches and translate essential findings into language that is accessible to you.

In addition to all of this, I am also an experienced yoga teacher and certified personal trainer. Over the last nine years, I have taught over 3,000 hours in group classes and private sessions, and I have led 200-hr teacher training programs through CorePower Yoga. I believe that yoga and exercise should be accessible to everybody (everybody)!

I look forward to working with you :)

Knowledgeable and Super Patient

Emily was amazing! This was my first time ever with a tutor and she made me feel very comfortable and at ease with the material. She took the time for me to go back to my lecture notes from class (to make sure that everything she taught was applicable and nonsensical). I throughly enjoyed our session and will be utilizing her services again in the future! Wish I could give her more than 5 stars!

Great tutor

He helped me exactly with what I needed (sample size and power analysis) very quickly and very clearly. Therefore, the session was very helpful. He explained the same concept in many ways to make sure I got it.

Knowledgeable and passionate tutor

I completed my YTT200 last year, but thought that I needed much more practice in order to teach confidently. That’s why I started to look for a private yoga tutor. I’ve been working with Emily twice a week for several weeks and she is definitely beyond my expectations! She can always bring me to the present and make me focused again even when I’m distracted. She doesn’t only help me build my strength and improve my alignments, but also help me practice my teaching cues and improve my confidence as a yoga teacher. She has tremendous knowledge about yoga as well as real passion for teaching yoga. If you want to deepen your personal practice, I cannot recommend Emily more.

Great lesson!

Emily is an amazing tutor. She is patient and really helped me work through designing experiments for a grant writing assignment in my graduate genetics course. She was so helpful and I am super proud of the my paper.

Review of a scientific immunology manuscript

Emily was a very knowledgeable and patient tutor. She was of great help at understanding the basics and applying the principles to an important recent scientific study.

Absolutely The Best Science Tutor on This Website

Emily was able to help me with capstone collegiate level courses including programming within Rstudio. She even worked on my problems while on her own time which really showed how committed she is. She deserves 5 stars from every reviewer and I will use her again if need be. Thank you Emily!
