Hi everyone! I'm Ben. I have a bachelor's degree in history and political science and a master's degree in government and politics. I tutor middle school, high school, college, and graduate students. I also review, proofread, and provide prompt feedback on writing in any form.

In addition, I work with professionals looking to improve their writing. If your writing skills are holding you back at work — I can help! If you want to improve the quality of your professional correspondence (emails, memos, reports, etc.) — I can help (I work regularly with students for whom English is not their first language)!

In graduate school, I studied American politics. In 2013, I began tutoring undergraduates in history and political science. In 2015, I started teaching at the college level. In my capacity as a graduate student, I led weekly discussion sections. I graded and provided feedback for exams, term papers, and other assignments.

For three semesters, I taught US Congress to upperclassmen. I've also taught political theory, pre-law, and introduction to American government courses. As a graduate student, I completed coursework on interest groups and social movements, congressional lobbying, campaign advertising, voter behavior, federal institutions, political theory (both modern and contemporary), and Congress itself.

I love working with students. I thrive in scholastic settings. I find exposure to other perspectives intellectually stimulating. I enjoy formulating and articulating complex ideas. The challenge of reconciling seemingly-divergent viewpoints and disparate traditions is incredibly rewarding.

Last year, I worked in DC for a congressperson and a US senator. In that capacity, I represented legislative team members at policy briefings and hearings. I also conducted policy research and composed policy memos for legislative correspondents.

I think you'll find that the breadth of my experience makes me useful in several different capacities. Please feel free to reach out at any time!

Knowledgeable, Approachable, Reliable- I would absolutely recommend Ben!

Ben helped me proofread my personal statement for law school as well as a variety of other essays. He was always super prompt at responding to my messages and he was incredibly accommodating, and helpful when it came to helping me brainstorm ideas for my essays. He was truly amazing, and exactly what I needed!

A knowledgeable tutor

Ben helped my son to prepare for the US Government AP exam. My son liked Ben's tutoring very much because his lesson is much more structured than his teacher's. I would highly recommend Ben to anyone who's looking for a tutor for this course.

stellar tutor for AP History

I really have no words for how delighted my son and I are to have stumbled across Ben on here. He has taught Zac more in 4 weeks than he has learned in High School this past two years. (Expensive, private high school 😥) Patient, prepared, tremendously knowledgeable. Just a fantastic experience, I would highly recommend this guy

Effective & Efficient Tutor!

Ben is a rockstar! He has helped my daughter edit and proofread several pieces of writing for her freshman composition class. Effectively brought her grades up from 81% to 95%+! He takes the time to explain to her sentence structure and always provides thoughtful and knowledgeable feedback on ways to improve an essay as well as helpful advice on how to improve her writing skills. My daughter comes away from each lesson feeling very motivated, and always proud to show me her final grade!
