Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

General Computer

Although this topic can be broad, I have an extensive background with computers, operating systems and internet browsers. My current strength and focus is Windows 8 and 8.1, and helping people to make the leap up from Windows XP and Windows 7. Windows 8 is very powerful and can be a surprisingly helpful time saver when you get to know all of the new and wildly different functionality.

HTML

I have worked with HTML, both as an instructor and as a developer, for over 15 years. I have been able to use my background in HTML to create websites, enhance web development software applications, and train classes. Whether you are using SharePoint, Dreamweaver, or Expression Web, a background in HTML is essential to getting the exact results you desire.

Microsoft Access

I am a Microsoft Certified Instructor, and have been teaching Microsoft Access for over 15 years. I have experience as a database administrator and have built 100's of databases using Microsoft Access.

Microsoft Excel

I am a Microsoft Certified Instructor, and have been teaching Microsoft Excel for over 20 years. My specific qualification with Excel is my ability to take a novice user and help them learn all of the power that lies hidden inside Microsoft Excel. Excel is a unique program, and acts quite differently from other Microsoft Office applications, but I can help you get the basics straight and even start recording Macros and writing Excel VBA code!

Microsoft Outlook

Microsoft Outlook is an extremely powerful program, but it seems that most people only use it for email and a calendar. There are so many powerful features in Outlook that go overlooked, such as setting Rules, Flagging items for Follow-up, the Automatic Replies feature, Automatic Archiving and custom archiving of all Outlook items, and the powerful search tools ... just to name a few! I am a certified Master of Microsoft Office.

Microsoft PowerPoint

PowerPoint is the one Microsoft application that never feels like work to me. It's a lot of fun, and can really help unlock your creativity! My basic goal with teaching PowerPoint is to make sure that your presentations have a "Wow!" factor, but to always keep the fundamentals of presenting information in mind. I also love how PowerPoint is made to either help you create a worthwhile presentation in minutes OR allow you to take full control and make a one-of-a-kind presentation of your very own.

Microsoft Windows

I am a career computer instructor, specializing in adult education. My specialization includes Microsoft products, including the Microsoft Windows operating system. I have been teaching people how to use Microsoft Windows for over 20 years; since Windows 3.1 and I am one of very few instructors who have the expertise to train users with Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 and NOW WINDOWS 10 too!

Microsoft Word

Ah, Microsoft Word! Without a doubt, the most robust application in all of Microsoft Office. I love Microsoft Word and its depth of capabilities, and I also really enjoy helping students understand the building blocks of this great application. Having over 20 years of experience with Word (including having been a beta tester for Word 6.0) I have watched it grow and I can help you learn how to get the most out of Word.

Probability

My career as an Adult Education Instructor has spanned over 20 years, during which I have taught classes in Probability using Microsoft Excel, SPSS, R and Quattro Pro. My years of experience in teaching Probability apply to the fields of business and healthcare (nursing) but can be applied to any and all applications of the concepts of probability.

Soccer

I have played soccer for over 40 years, and also have been a youth soccer coach for the past two (2) years. Before that, I was a women's college soccer assistant coach for four (4) years. I pride myself on my energetic, fun style of play and instruction, with a mastery of the basic elements of playing the game (kicking, dribbling, passing, etc.).

Statistics

My career as an Adult Education Instructor has spanned over 20 years, during which I have taught classes in Probability and Statistics, Spreadsheets, Word Processing, Databases, Project Management, Time Management, and Web Development.
