About Eric

I currently enjoy tutoring the SAT, ACT, GRE, and GMAT tests. I also tutor math, statistics, and economics at all levels. I received a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from The George Washington University.

I began my career as an engineer with the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington D.C. I worked on several military satellite programs as a design engineer. I also worked at Booz, Allen, & Hamilton and the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association. I transitioned to finance after attending New York University and receiving my MBA. I spent over a decade as an equity research analyst for several Wall Street Firms. I currently work as a financial consultant for FNB Wealth Management. I enjoy teaching, playing my guitar and exercising in my spare time.

I started tutoring in college. I helped many friends with their math, economics, and statistics classes. I am an extremely patient person. I'm also goal oriented and love to see my students excel. Last year I started formal tutoring through several private agencies. It has been a lot of fun watching my students improve and do well on their standardized tests.

Please contact me. I will make every effort to help the student achieve great results!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I love helping students prepare for the ACT test. I help them learn the best problem solving techniques to ensure greater success. I have a strong math background having studied engineering and finance at the graduate level. I am very patient and dedicated to helping students improve their scores. I look forward to meeting with you and your child soon.

SAT Reading

Developing good reading skills is critical for success on the SAT test. Interestingly, good reading skills will also help tremendously on the math section of the test. I emphasize techniques that reduce anxiety and produce consistent results. For example, using clues from the questions is one technique that we use to save time and improve results.

SSAT

I love teaching the SSAT. I have tutored students for several years with great success. I focus on simplifying the test, e.g., explaining why it's easier to eliminate wrong answers before trying to select the correct answer. I also focus on math fundamentals, filling in any gaps that may have been missed over the past several years. The vocabulary section is the most challenging section. Here, we try to make vocabulary fun by using flashcards and mnemonic devices.
