Bio

I graduated from Vanderbilt University with a double engineering major in Biomedical and Chemical Engineering with minors in Chemistry and Engineering Management. I earned my degree with a 3.7 GPA. During my time as an undergraduate, I tutored for Brains and Brawns where I helped high-school students prepare for the SAT and ACT (My scores: ACT-36, SAT-1560). I graduated from Vanderbilt University with a double engineering major in Biomedical and Chemical Engineering with minors in Chemistry and Engineering Management. I earned my degree with a 3.7 GPA. During my time as an undergraduate, I tutored for Brains and Brawns where I helped high-school students prepare for the SAT and ACT (My scores: ACT-36, SAT-1560). This included designing student specific study plans based on the individuals strengths and weakness, assigning homework to strengthen skills, and administering/grading practice exams. I was also a volunteer for VSVS (Vanderbilt Students Volunteering for Science) where I went to middle schools on a bi-weekly basis to teach engaging yet educational science lessons.

Even before my college career, I was always fond of tutoring. In high-school, I tutored peers in math and science courses through our school's tutoring center. I also volunteered at Ada Jenkins as a tutor where I helped under privileged students with their homework and exam preparation.

I have a passion for students of all ability levels and an understanding that all students learn at different speeds and respond well to different teaching mechanisms. I love watching kids learn and progress as I guide them through understanding challenging subjects.

I am a rising senior and needed help getting my ACT test score up. I began using Julia around eight weeks before my scheduled test. Julia is a very patient and thoughtful teacher and was hugely helpful in helping me improve my score. She began by giving me some insights into the test itself and managing my time on the test. We then moved through each section where Julia offered me some high level instruction and then worked with me on practice tests. She knows the test very well and is an excellent communicator. I cannot recommend Julia more highly.
