I am a flight attendant on maternity leave. My leave is unpaid, so this is one of a few gigs that I have to offset my loss in pay. My primary work at this time is that of a first-time stay-at-home-mom.

Throughout the years, I have been on and off Wyzant as it has aligned with my career. Most recently, I focused on one-off sessions helping students find their voice and sense of discovery. Currently, I am open to a variety of work since my leave has created some freedom in my scheduling and availability. I enjoy opportunities to engage in knowledge areas outside my work scope and hone my skills. Please do not hesitate to reach out to get more clarification on how I might help support your needs.

The same qualities that make me well-suited to my role as a flight attendant will apply to my work as a tutor. I am professional and strive to communicate clearly and concisely. I aim to provide the highest quality of care and service I am able.

Prior to becoming a flight attendant, I was developing a career in education with a background in engineering. I am a second-generation Taiwanese American, and I come from a highly nomadic and dysfunctional family background. Suffice to say, I am capable of offering support beyond academic value and am comfortable with unique challenges.

My formal teaching experience ranges from substitute teaching assignments for life skills and kindergarten to engaging as an undergraduate teaching assistant for an introductory computer problem solving course and Project Lead the Way curriculum training for teachers. However, I have not been active in education for the past few years, so this experience is more relevant to my ability to adapt to different students than my subject matter knowledge.

I have a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a B.A. in Chinese Language, Literature, and Culture from the University of Florida. I completed an International Baccalaureate program in high school and was an AP Scholar and National Merit Finalist.

Public Speaking

Public Speaking

I utilize public speaking for my job on a regular basis. I have been casually commended for my public speaking skills both by my peers and audience in the past. I attribute this to being involved in Speech & Debate starting in the fifth grade all the way through high school. I earned awards in both categories, and participated as a volunteer coach for middle school. These experiences involved small classroom-like settings practicing and editing pieces one-on-one or in groups of up to ten.
Speech

Speech

I worked as a supplemental English as a Foreign Language instructor for native Chinese speakers where I utilized my academic background of Chinese language, literature, and culture to assist students in identifying weaknesses and common pitfalls in their speech. I also formally studied Spanish for two years and am still studying informally, so I may be able to assist more advanced individuals who are studying with Spanish as a native language.

Can't wait for the next lesson.

Christine, listens to the student's concerns and adapts the lesson to meet the needs of my child. She tailors the lesson to help my son to complete his assignments. She is helping build his self confidence to speak and practice Mandarin.

Good method to learn numbers

Christine reviewed the radicals and helped me say 2 digit and three digit numbers. We used these numbers to ask about age and birthdays. Also went over new characters. Thank u!
