About Angela

Hello students & parents,

As a licensed & certified Exceptional needs teacher, I truly believe that everyone can learn and can overcome any challenges.

Let me begin by asking a few questions.

Does your classroom teacher go too fast when teaching a lesson?

Are you easily distracted? Do you have trouble staying focused in school?

Do you still have questions at the end of class after being taught a new concept?

Do you comprehend things better when it is broken down into smaller pieces?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, I AM YOUR TUTOR! I am patient and fully understand that we all have different learning styles.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Study Skills

Study skills require organization and tools in order to be successful. I have implemented two different types of study and organizational skills with my students as well as my own children. 1. Keep a daily log/calendar of each task that needs to be completed. 2. Prioritize each item by importance as well as date. 3. Solicit the assistance of a peer and/or an adult to accomplish goal/task.

I strongly encourage all my students to keep an electronic copy of their tasks as well.

To additionally keep student organized, I encourage a binder/folder for each subject. This allows the student to monitor the daily requirements of each subject.

Vocabulary

Building vocabulary is the key to developing good reading comprehension skills and a better quality of life. I currently serve as a Reading interventionist at my high school for students who are significantly below grade level
