Knowledgeable, kind, patient

I am half Korean and have been exposed to Korean for a long time. I've been nervous about trying to learn again because I feel like I should know more than I do, and am often embarrassed that I don't. Youngkeun is very kind and patient and she clearly cares about me learning. I've had some teachers be shaming and she is not that way. She is always supportive and kind when I have questions. I am learning a lot!

Really nice and encouraging. There's a bit of a lag in the video so it makes it seems like she's going faster than she actually is. That makes it a little difficult to communicate. I was really nervous but she was kind and cares about what she is teaching.

As a 2nd generation Korean American, I have struggled with my Korean language deficiency for decades. I have tried to improve by watching Korean language television, through self-study, and (in university) by spending time with Korean friends. After I decided that I needed assistance to attain an acceptable level of fluency, I looked into tutoring options. I was hesitant to try online tutoring, but my initial experience with this teacher was excellent! I strongly encourage anyone looking to learn or improve Korean language skills to reach out and book a lesson.

Great instructor and first lesson

Youngkeun reached out to me ahead of the first lesson to check on goals and language proficiency, as I had previously studied Korean. She made sure I had the basics down and then customized the lesson, always making sure things made sense. I never felt rushed. For my first lesson, I could not have asked for a better instructor!

선생님 Youngkeun is very patient and extremely knowledgeable about how to teach the Korean language properly. For someone who loves to learn languages, I find it very important to find someone who knows how to explain things in a clear and concise manner. In our first lesson, she was very punctual and had a whiteboard ready, which was very helpful. Additionally, she goes right ahead to explain what Hangeul (the Korean alphabet) is, its origin, and the vowels. She makes sure to go at the learner's pace and answers any questions you might have. I just did my second lesson and I have gotten the vowels and many of the constants down already! I would highly recommend taking lessons with her.
