I have always loved school and hope to be a college professor one day. I have had many opportunities to teach and tutor students in different settings. I was a writing tutor in high school and have taught language courses. My teaching style includes individual focus and creating a study session based on a student's specific needs. As a student who dealt with learning differences, I am aware of the importance of communicating with a student about how they learn best. This helps inform how lesson plans will look and what kind of exercises outside of the lessons would be beneficial.
Along with my Sociology courses I took 4 years of Anthropology courses. Many of the foundational theories of anthropology are required for sociology.
I have three years' worth of English tutoring. I also took AP English courses (Literature and Language/Composition) for two years. Additionally, I am experienced in college-level writing for English courses. I have taken literature courses focused on African Americans, Latino, and classical literature. I am familiar with a large catalog of authors and books commonly assigned in middle school through college.
With a Sociology background, I have many years of experience in social studies. Social studies combine social sciences, humanities, history, and political science. I minored in Africana studies which have given me extensive historical knowledge. I have four years of learning experience in the social sciences and political sciences.
