I am retired from teaching, but I missed teaching. I enjoyed teaching very much, not only because I am teaching what I know, but I love to share my knowledge on subject matters with my students. My first priority is to find out what the students want. In private tutoring setting, I focus on what they need, and how they can achieve their goals. I will provide them with materials I have accumulated for the last 20+ years in terms of making learning fun and easy. Students have to buy a text book from any book stores.

Minimum lesson is 1 hour duration. Cancellation policy: if student cancel the lesson in less than 3 hours before actual lesson time, s/he will be charged $25 for the cancellation fee.

Table Tennis

I have played table tennis during my high school days for only a year and a half and reached the final in regional tournament and at a college for 2 years in Japan. I have coached high school students when I was in Japan and three middle school students in Santa Ana and presently adult students at YMCA in Torrance. I go to out of state for a senior tournament once a year and top 3 finishers in men's single, men's doubles and mixed doubles events for the last 4 years. It is very important to have a good swing/stroke form in the beginning because once you got bad forms or habits, it is too difficult to correct.

Great tutor for children

I am eleven years old and Hiro has taught me almost 300 kanji in less than two years. I have a lot of fun while learning a lot. In one hour we go over reading, writing, and speaking.

Excellent Tutor

Really interesting guy. We had a great conversation in Japanese about Japanese culture and his relationship with Japan. Very helpful with vocabulary and helping me remember words I'd forgotten.

Could not have hoped for better

My son was starting to struggle in his second year of Japanese, so we decided to try a tutor, and found Hiro. He has been just what we hoped for -- he is very clear and patient, as well as being quite generous with his time. He is making a difference for my son. We are lucky to have found him!
