I am currently a PhD student in mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley. I have taught multiple sections of linear algebra and calculus, and was awarded an Outstanding TA award for my efficacy in teaching. I'd of course be happy to chat about what being in a PhD program is like, especially for mathematics. I've also worked at Amazon as a software engineer, where I was placed on a machine learning team under Amazon Ads. I can provide insider information on what working in such a company is like and how to thrive there, as well as tips and tricks on the interviewing process.

For undergrad, I graduated from Yale University with a B.S./M.S. in Mathematics (summa cum laude, 3.98/4.0 GPA), and I have tutored for about 3 years combined in high school and college. I am happy to help with anything including PSAT/SAT/ACT (1410/1570/35) prep, college essays/applications, mathematics (up to the beginning graduate school level: calculus, linear algebra, discrete math, probability theory, real analysis, complex analysis, number theory, algebraic number theory, commutative algebra, point-set/algebraic topology, manifolds, differential geometry, Riemannian geometry), computer science (Java, Python, C), quantum computing, data analysis, physics (classical mechanics, quantum mechanics, E&M), and for English / History too!

I've always felt that seeing those moments of understanding flash across someone's face to be some of the most gratifying experiences, and it will be my goal to make such occurrences as frequent as possible. Please feel free to reach out with any inquiries! I can be as flexible as needed and can tailor a lesson plan for just about anything.

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Algebra I is perhaps the first time when math gets confusing for middle/high school students. I know I ran into issues when I was a kid. But having tutored in the past, I know exactly the right tips and tricks to illuminate the subject with an intuition that will last a lifetime.
C

C

I have used C extensively, having written all major data structures and implemented all significant algorithms with it in one of my courses at Yale. I am very familiar with the "C Bible", that notorious book of Kernighan and Ritchie.
Calculus

Calculus

I am familiar with everything there is to know about calculus: Calc I, Calc II, Calc III, Calc IV, and so on. Whether it be derivatives and integrals or basic differential equations and related rates, I know exactly how to provide the best intuition possible when it comes to the questions of calculus. Trust me: it's actually not that hard. At the higher levels, I can assist with vector calculus, calculus on manifolds, and more.
Computer Programming

Computer Programming

I have been coding for years, and received the equivalent of more than a minor in computer science at Yale. I've taken courses in data structures, programming techniques, algorithms (proof-based), quantum computing, and more.
Computer Science

Computer Science

I have taken plenty of computer science classes at Yale University and received As in all of them: Data Structures and Programming Techniques, Intensive Algorithms, Computer Vision, Quantum Computing, and so on. I essentially took enough courses to get at least a minor in the subject, though Yale does not offer minors. I have spent many hours helping out classmates and others with the problem sets in the past.
Data Science

Data Science

I took numerous data science courses during my time at Yale, including Data Analysis and Probability Theory, as well as Computer Vision and Machine Learning. I am familiar with all of the foundational data science and especially the mathematics behind it. I can also help with programming (mostly Python) as well.
Differential Equations

Differential Equations

I have taken a course in differential equations and did extremely well (A+). I believe that the core of the subject is little more than a few sleight of hands that are often obfuscated by most instructors. I hope to dispel all of this mathematical haze, shining light on methods like separation by variables, exact differential equations, integrating factors, Laplace transforms, and more.
Discrete Math

Discrete Math

I received an A in Discrete Mathematics at Yale University.
Econometrics

Econometrics

I have received As in Data Structures and Proof-based Algorithms at Yale University. I was recently hired as a Software Development Engineer at a major tech firm (one of Meta, Google, Microsoft, Apple, and Amazon).
Finite Math

Finite Math

I have taken a litany of math courses at Yale, many of which have used to some capacity what we learn in finite math. I have helped out many of my friends (along with other students) with the material.
GRE

GRE

I had to take the GRE myself to apply to graduate school. I scored 167/170/5.5, and would be happy to assist anyone who wishes to improve in any section.
Java

Java

Java was the first programming language that I ever learned. I am well-versed in its unique object-oriented capabilities, as well as all of the language's most foundational aspects. I can assist with data structures, algorithms, or anything else.
Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra

Know everything from basic linear algebra to inner product spaces, applications to data science/quantum mechanics, and even some functional analysis if necessary.
Physics

Physics

I have received As in courses at Yale in Quantum Mechanics and Electricity and Magnetism (vector calculus electrostatics, magnetostatics, electrodynamics). I am well-versed in the fundamentals of classical mechanics as well, having scored a 5 on the AP exam. I find physics to be an unparalleled playground when it comes to applying the tools of mathematics.
Probability

Probability

I am familiar with everything from counting and combinatorics to probability at the measure-theoretic level. This includes distributions, random variables, and any brain teaser problems that could show up in a quant finance interview.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

In high school I competed in speech and debate for four years, reaching top 5 nationally in public forum debate. In college I was on the Yale Debate Association, and we consistently placed among the top three clubs each year. I have had plenty of experience helping other high schoolers with speech and debate, listening to their arguments and helping them hone their persuasive skills.
Python

Python

Python was one of the first programming languages that I familiarized myself with. I can devise algorithms, employ object-oriented programming techniques, and even code up a game or two.
Statistics

Statistics

I have taken numerous courses in everything from machine learning to data analysis to probability theory. I am well-versed in the modern statistical toolkit, and am also familiar with some econometric theory as well.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

I am familiar with everything trigonometry--sines and cosines, the unit circle, applications to Fourier series, you name it.

Excellent quality FAANG algo tutor

Brian is exactly the support I'd hoped for. He is able to spot my gaps and explain concepts to me so well. He also does a great job of encouraging me. I feel like I'm moving 10x as fast learning with Brian as slogging it out on Leetcode by myself.
