Oberlin College (Music History)
I have 18 years of experience teaching young people and adults, and have a passion for motivating and engaging youth and adults one-in-one in inspiring learning experiences. Few things are as meaningful and energizing to me as encouraging students to have faith in themselves, persevere and improve their skills.
I have two years experience teaching English full-time to students aged 10-adult in China where I received a second TEFL certificate as well as extensive on-the-job training. I taught classes of various sizes there, from 1-on-1 to 30 people. I taught from given materials, books and PPT, and also created my own courses. If you're a Chinese speaker, I speak (read and write) and understand basic Chinese (as well as the languages listed below).
I started studying French as a child and have spent time in France and in French-speaking Switzerland. I am currently teaching French beginners (I've also studied Japanese, German, Italian and Mandarin).

I have two years
Cecily taught me French. She was creative and came up with a lot of different methods for adult learning (pictures on a clip board, songs etc) which helped me a lot. She was patient to wait until I constructed a sentence and helped me to correct it when needed. I recommend Cecily as a teacher.
I had one session with Cecily to review two papers. She helped me with grammar issues and develop ideas properly. She was on time and helped me improve my papers. Her rate is fair for what she offers.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
