I graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences, where I completed advanced coursework in organic chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, physiology, and psychology. Through my time at UC Berkeley and my current research work at UCSF and Stanford, I’ve developed a deep understanding of complex scientific and mathematical concepts, but more importantly, I’ve learned how to teach them in ways that actually make sense to students.
My tutoring journey began in middle school, when I coached elementary students for regional Science Field Day competitions. I taught them concepts across chemistry, biology, and physics and trained them to apply those ideas through hands-on experiments in events like Perplexing Powders and Science Triathlon. Over four years, my students consistently placed first or second at the regional level. These experiences taught me that great teaching starts with understanding how a student thinks, not just what they know.
At UC Berkeley, I carried this philosophy into peer tutoring, helping classmates master difficult topics during office hours. I focus on identifying a student’s strengths, simplifying complex material into patterns they can grasp, and then building confidence through structured problem-solving. Whether I’m teaching younger students or college-level peers, my approach is always individualized, patient, and rooted in clarity. Having worked with students from elementary through university levels, I know how to meet learners where they are and guide them toward tangible results they can be proud of.
