My best experiences as a tutor have been with the students who needed me most, learning how they needed to learn. I have been a tutor in one setting or another since childhood.

As an undergraduate I was a teacher's assistant in English, German and Astronomy, a grader in Calculus and a tutor in Physics for scientists and engineers. I have continued to tutor Physics and Math ever since, including during my brief stint in the Santa Clara Teacher Credentialing program.

I make an effort to be welcoming to people of all backgrounds. Education needs to be a place of safety.

I am willing to discuss rate adjustment in person with those who can demonstrate need.

C++

I first started programming in C++ in high school in 1999. Since then, I have used the language in college during labwork and for personal amusement, but not professionally. I am capable at teaching the basics of logic and translating specific problems into code. I would not be the best choice for the experienced, but may be ideal for a beginner.

Algebra 2

I have taught this subject to students from ages 13 to 57, and I realize how difficult it can seem. So I work on improving not only students' understanding of the subject but also their confidence in it, to ensure that what they learn they will also retain for future use.
Chemistry,

Chemistry

While my major is physics, I took honors chemistry in college, and am capable in basic chemistry as well as nuclear chemistry and thermodynamics due to my degree. I would not be a good choice for Organic Chemistry.

As my degree subject, Physics is my primary tutoring subject. I take a particular joy in teaching it with direct connections to a student's own experiences, using the world to make sense of the math, and using the math to make sense of the world.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

I regularly tutor students at all levels of mathematics up to multivariable calculus, including Prealgebra, but I’ve worked with students of all ages and abilities. I take time to ensure my students really understand, and pay close attention to know what challenges them.

Friendly and Focused Tutor

My daughter actually received the tutoring, so I can only provide a review from my brief observation. Francesca appeared to be a very positive and experienced tutor. She was ready to dive in to help my daughter who is interested in having further sessions with Francesca, so in my mind, that is the best review!

I feel confident in math, now!

Francesca is literally the best tutor. She has taught me more in 2 hours than my own math teachers have throughout my k-12 education. She is very, very knowledgeable! She is patient, and does not belittle me when I don't understand an answer- she helps me work through the problems! Thank you, Francesca for being such a great educator. I look forward to more lessons!

Knowledgeable, patient and explained concepts

My son really liked his session with Francesca and said he learnt more in the hour with her than last couple of months combined at school and his other tutoring center.

Amazing Physics tutor!

She has an amazing way of explaining physics and her sessions are so interactive. I used to tutor organic chemistry for 2 years, and as a fellow tutor I am so impressed. She is patient, knowledgeable, and encourages me to think through the problem on my own. Anyone can tell she has so much experience. I went from a 53% on my first physics exam, to 85% on my second. She is also amazing at replying to emails or texts. I highly reccomend her!
