I am a Biology and Chemistry tutor with a strong academic foundation and years of experience helping students develop confidence in the sciences. I earned my degree in Chemical Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, where I was a researcher at the Bustamante Lab working on projects involving proteomics and assay development. Prior to that, I was a Biology Tutor at Diablo Valley College, where covering a wide range of courses—from introductory cell and molecular biology to biochemistry and genetics. My tutoring experience has allowed me to support students at different levels of understanding, adapting explanations to fit each learner’s pace and background.
Before and during college, I volunteered as a charity tutor helping underprivileged kids ranging from kindergarten to first year secondary school in Math and Language, and was part of Diablo Valley College's Disabled Students’ Services (DSS), where I provided individualized academic support and helped fellow students in following their courses. These experiences taught me how to be patient, empathetic, and creative in my teaching, whether working with primary school students in learning basic Math and English, college students tackling advanced coursework, or university freshman in adjusting to a research lab environment.
In my sessions, I emphasize conceptual understanding over memorization. I use diagrams, analogies, and problem-based learning to help students see how biological and chemical principles connect across topics. My goal is not only to help students master their material but also to build lasting confidence and unlock their potential in any given area of study.
