Hi, I'm Krista! I graduated with distinction in Political Science and Ethnicity, Race, and Migration from Yale University and I am a Fulbright grantee. As a high school and college student, I was able to thrive with the mentorship and guidance of amazing teachers that made even the most difficult subjects approachable and interesting. As a tutor, I work with students to identify their difficulties, determine an achievable plan of action for improving, and make progress towards their goals.
I have over 5 years of tutoring experience, working with various grade levels and teaching different subjects. In 2017, I worked as a high school math tutor, focusing mainly on Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2. In college, I worked as a reading tutor to elementary school students for one year, a health education teacher to high school students for two years, a SAT and ACT prep tutor for six months, an English tutor for six months, and a Guitar teacher. After college, I was selected to teach English in Brazil for eight months with the Fulbright Commission. I taught various levels of English at the university level in Brazil and received my TOEFL certification. From my various experiences, I feel comfortable teaching in different environments. I have learned to approach teaching from a mindful, caring, and peer-to-peer perspective and I hope to work with students to develop their interests and passions for their studies.
