I am Northwest (Oregon born and Washington raised) born and raised. But I have also lived in other places. I have a Bachelor's Degree in English with a minor in Communications and TESOL from Brigham Young University in Provo, UT. Following my graduation, I spent three years in Taiwan teaching English to pre-school through 6th-grade age students, mostly. I also tutored one Junior High student and a graduate school student trying to improve her English. Therefore, I had teaching experience in teaching English to Taiwanese students whose native language was Mandarin Chinese or Taiwanese. Because of that, I understand some Mandarin and can speak a little of it, as well, although I am not fluent. I also understand and can speak a little Spanish. I also know a little French. Language, especially English, is clearly my area of strength. I also can help with writing or study habits, generally. In addition to these subjects, I am familiar with the Social Sciences and I also enjoy History and Geography. I recently have taught an ESL/Naturalization class at the Chinese Information Services Center in Seattle as part of an internship for my Master's in Education Program in TESOL that I am currently completing at Seattle University. I enjoy tutoring because of its one-on-one nature. I charge a modest rate and am willing to do all that I can to help you or your child master the material. I also do proofreading/editing for various kinds of papers.
